As becomes our tradition we will toast Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Over afternoon tea, Dr. Kathleen Dixon Donnelly will take us back to the early years of the 20th century to explore the Bloomsbury Group and their ‘whisky, buns and cocoa, and conversations late in to the night.’ The set of associated English writers, intellectuals, philosophers and artists included novelist Virginia Woolf, her sister, painter Vanessa Bell and their ‘Such Friends’ and relatives who gathered in drawing rooms in the Bloomsbury section of London. Their works and outlook deeply influenced literature, aesthetics, criticism, and economics as well as modern attitudes towards feminism, pacifism, and sexuality.

After you're all done why not relax in the bar and enjoy our Britsburgh Cocktail. Light live music will entertain you. Not a bad afternoon at all!

About Mansions on Fifth:  Once home to one of Pittsburgh’s most prominent attorneys, Willis F. McCook, legal counsel to steel and coke magnate Henry Clay Frick. When you cross the threshold of the Mansions on Fifth Hotel, you enter another world – one of elegance, sophistication and opulence. Built in 1906, Mansions on Fifth is a glimpse into the past. It was a time where giants of the business world traversed Shadyside’s Fifth Avenue - “Millionaire’s Row” - on a daily basis. Names such as Carnegie, Mellon, Frick, Westinghouse and Heinz were among the leading citizens of the day.
