Mystery Lovers Society: In conversation with Alice K. Boatwright

Join us for a conversation with author Alice Boatwright. Alice is not only the author of the Ellie Kent mystery series and winner of the 2016 Mystery and Mayhem Grand Prize, but she and her husband lived in Britain for several years. So, this event will appeal to not only lovers of British Mysteries, but anyone curious about what it's like to be an American expat living in Britain.

Alice will talk about her series featuring an American woman, Ellie Kent, who marries a British vicar and moves to the Cotswolds. When she finds a body in the churchyard soon after her arrival, she is accused of murder and must draw on her past experience as a researcher to solve this crime. . . as well as other mysteries.

She will also describe her experience living in a country where she shared the language (sort of!), had a British sounding name and wore British clothes, but was always aware that she was a "foreigner".

The program will consist of:

  • An interview with author Alice K. Boatwright moderated by Britsburgh Mystery Lovers Society Co-Chair, Chris Skerlong.
  • A live Question and Answer period with the author.

About Alice K. Boatwright:

Alice K. Boatwright is the author of award-winning mysteries and literary fiction. Her mysteries about the skeptical American Ellie Kent, who marries a handsome English vicar and moves to his Cotswold village, have generated an enthusiastic following. The stories draw on the author's own experiences as an ex-pat living in an English village - as well as her longstanding love of English culture (her first job at age 15 was as a minstrel at a Shakespeare theater in Connecticut). The first book in the series, UNDER AN ENGLISH HEAVEN, won 2016 Mystery & Mayhem Grand Prize for best mystery; and WHAT CHILD IS THIS? (Book 2) has become a popular Christmas read. IN THE LIFE EVER AFTER (Book 3) will be published in 2021.  She and her husband make their home in Seattle.
